In situ adhesion measurements utilizing layer-by-layer functionalized surfaces.
The adhesion between poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) hemispheres coated with layer-by-layer (LbL) assemblies of polyelectrolytes and rigid, planar substrates was investigated using Johnson, Kendall, and Roberts (JKR) contact mechanics. Measurements were performed against amine-functionalized glass slides both in air and in aqueous solutions of controlled pH. Despite the increased density of negat...
متن کاملPreparation and characterization of polyoxometalate/protein ultrathin films grown on electrode surfaces using layer-by-layer assembly.
We report a new electrostatic layer-by-layer assembly method for the controlled deposition of electrocatalytically active enzymes onto electrode surfaces using polyoxometalate as the counteranion. Cytochrome c (cyt c), a redox active protein, and P(2)W(18)O(62)(6-), a Dawson-type polyoxometalate, were deposited onto glassy carbon electrodes by two procedures: static dipping and electrochemical ...
متن کاملFabrication of Poly(ε-Caprolactone), Hydrophilic and β-Tricalcium Phosphate Layer- by -Layer Nanofibrous Scaffolds for Tissue Engineering
In this study, using biodegradable polymers, nanofiberouse scaffolds were fabricated from the layer-by-layer electrospinning method, including two layer that poly (ε-caprolactone), polyvinylpyrrolidone deposited at first layer and poly (ε-caprolactone), polyvinyl alcohol , β-tricalcium phosphate at latter. After prepration of scaffolds, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), swelling, porosity, me...
متن کاملBio-inspired silicification on patterned surfaces generated by microcontact printing and layer-by-layer self-assembly.
Micropatterns of silica were generated under biocompatible conditions by a combination of microcontact printing (muCP), layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly, and biomimetic silicification. Quaternary amine-containing poly(diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) induced polycondensation of silicic acid, resulting in spatioselective formation of silica micropatterns. Scale bar: 10 microm.
